The question then arises how the optical properties of such entangled photonsources differ from a radiating source in a separable state. We investigate fundamentalprocesses like emission and scattering of radiation from entangled systems. We show howentanglement can lead to enhancement of basic processes by explicitly taking into account thevarious quantum paths. We relate enhancement to quantum interference of multiple photonpathways. Our work also shows how Dicke super radiance from states with zero dipolemoment can be understood as interference phenomena.

Efficient fluorescence collection from trapped ions with an integrated spherical mirror

Efficient collection of fluorescence from trapped ions is crucial for quantum optics and quantum computing applications, specifically for qubit state detection and in generating single photons for ion-photon and remote ion entanglement. In a typical setup, only a few percent of the ion fluorescence is intercepted by the aperture of the imaging optics. We employ a simple metallic spherical mirro...

Trapped ion imaging with a high numerical aperture spherical mirror

Efficient collection and analysis of trapped ion qubit fluorescence is essential for robust qubit state detection in trapped ion quantum computing schemes. We discuss simple techniques of improving photon collection efficiency using high numerical aperture (N.A.) reflective optics. To test these techniques we placed a spherical mirror with an effective N.A. of about 0.9 inside a vacuum chamber ...

Photoelectric probing of the interfacial trap density-of-states in ZnO nanowire field-effect transistors.

We have fabricated transparent top-gate ZnO nanowire (NW) field effect transistors (FETs) on glass and measured their trap density-of-states (DOS) at the dielectric/ZnO NW interface with monochromatic photon beams during their operation. Our photon-probe method showed clear signatures of charge trap DOS at the interface, located near 2.3, 2.7, and 2.9 eV below the conduction band edge. The DOS ...
